Senators Extend Win Streak To Three After Winning 8-3 vs. Braves

The Southern Maryland Senators improve their win streak to three as they beat the Metro South County Braves 8-3.

The Senators struck first in the third inning. Nick Flores (VCU) drew a one-out walk. He then stole second to collect his fourth stolen base this season and advanced to third on a passed ball. With Carter Groen (UConn) at the plate, the right fielder hit a sacrifice fly to right field, which scored Flores.

In the top of the fourth, the Braves found their own success when Jacob Seek (Frederick CC) came in for Aiden Milburn (Binghamton). The lefty did not complete the fourth inning, giving up four free passes and one hit by pitch. With the bases loaded each time, he walked in both runs he gave up that inning.

Metro South County held their lead for three and a half innings until the bottom of the seventh. The Senators were able to score five runs that inning.

Leading off the inning, Jax Nichols (Motlow State CC) sent the first pitch down the left field line for a double. The next batter, Ky Queen (Norfolk), hit a single that scored Nichols.

Next up, Logan Tribble (Wofford) stepped to the plate. While Tribble’s streak of getting on base every single at-bat ended this game, the outfielder has still reached base in all four games the Senators have played this season. Tribble has gotten off to arguably the hottest start amongst the Senators' players.

With a runner on first, Tribble hit a single to the shortstop, advancing Queen to third. Queen would then score on a passed ball by the Braves catcher, which also moved Tribble to second. Groen came up to bat with two runners in scoring position, and he hit a ground ball that resulted in an error by the shortstop, bringing in Tribble.

The final dagger in that inning was a two-run single by Steven Kraus (Binghamton) that scored Adam Troch (Duke) and Groen. The Senators scored five runs on three hits and led the game 6-2.

In the eighth inning, Southern Maryland added two more runs, capitalizing on two walks. Chet Bowling (Winthrop) hit a double that scored Queen and Jack Euart (Wofford).

After the Braves scored one run in the ninth, the Senators still prevailed and won their third game at home. They are on the road for the next game in Woodbridge, Virginia, as they take on the DC Grays at 7 p.m.
