Senators Win Five Straight, Beating the Giants 9-3
6/10/2025by Grace Morris

For the first time in Senators' history, Southern Maryland has a five-game win streak following its 9-3 win against the Giants.

A strong first inning led the Senators to victory. While the Giants took the lead in the bottom of the first, the Senators responded with six runs.

Nick Flores (VCU) led off the game with a hit by pitch, and despite the next two batters getting out, Flores would come around to score on a MJ Phillips (Towson) double. The Senators kept the runs rolling in as Phillips scored when Danny Surowiec (Boston College) hit a single.

However, the runs did not stop there. Jax Nichols (Motlow CC) drew a four-pitch walk. Ky Queen (Norfolk State) stepped up to the plate next, hitting a single between the first and second basemen that scored Surowiec. Finally, in the first, the Senators doubled their score when Jack Euart (Wofford) hit a "Little League homer." Due to a throwing error by the Giants catcher, Nichols, Queen, and Euart scored on the play.

With a five-run lead over the Giants, Jace Cunnane (Towson) pitched well in the first, second, and third innings, allowing three runs. After Cunnane, Griffin Seibel (Quinnipiac) came into the game and did so masterfully as he pitched three innings, allowing only two hits and keeping the Giants scoreless.

In the fourth and sixth innings, Seibel received even more run support from his offense. Euart reached base in the fourth and came around to score his second run of the day when Adam Troch (Duke) sent one right back up the middle. Troch has now gotten a hit in all six of his games as a Senator.

The Senators scored their final two runs of the game in the sixth, the first coming when Flores hit an RBI groundout that scored Euart. Then, another single by Troch sent Logan Tribble (Wofford) home to score the Senators' ninth run.

The Southern Maryland Senators have an off day on Tuesday, but they are back on the road on Wednesday. They will play the Cropdusters in Olney, looking for their sixth straight win.
