Host Family FAQ

FAQS:

  • How long does the player stay?

Your player will stay with you from approximately May 28 – July 31, 2026.

  • What accommodations do I need to provide?

You will need to provide the following for your player:

  • Private Bedroom
  • Bathroom
  • Laundry access
  • A place to park a car
  • SOMD style Hospitality

  • Do we need to provide meals for our player?

That’s up to you! Some families provide snacks and/or meals for their players while others do not. Players will be provided dinner on home game nights.

  • What if we are going on vacation during the season?

That’s not a problem. If you are going on vacation, let Scott know and we can make plans to re-house your player while you are gone.

  • How often should we expect to see our player?

The players have games 5-6 days a week, and practice beforehand. Many of them also have summer jobs or help out with the camps. You will probably see less of your player than you might expect.

  • How does transportation work?

About two-thirds of the players have their own car. Players who do not have cars are strategically housed close to players who do have cars, so their teammates can provide them rides. We do not expect host families to drive our players around.

  • Are there any perks for being a Host Family?

Yes! As a Host Family, you will receive:

  • Free admission to home games
  • Jersey and game wood bat from the player
  • Invitation to Host Family Night with dinner provided
  • Recognition at games
  • An experience for younger players to learn more about the game and collegiate process
  • Great family memories
  • And more!
