The Senators shut out the Big Train at home to send the Semifinals to a decisive game 3.
The Senators struck first in the bottom of the fourth inning. Cole Rhame (Richmond) led off the frame with a single and Jackson Hays (Yale) followed this up with a walk. Zach Anderson (Binghamton) then laid down a sac bunt, moving both runners into scoring position. Kai Lwin (Florida Atlantic) took advantage of this and hit a ground ball to the Big Train second basemen, to score the first run of the game.
Zach Anderson led off the 7th inning with a home run deep to left field, to double the Senators lead 2-0. The Senators have only played 2 games at Regency Furniture Stadium this year, and this was the first home run hit there this season.
In the Top of the ninth, the Big Train drew a walk with two outs, bringing the potential game tying run up to bat. Ryan Conrad (Villanova) froze him with a slider on the outside part of the plate to close out the game for the Senators, earning the save.
Starter Will Petteys (Southern Illinois) pitched excellent, giving up zero runs in 8 dominate innings, earning himself the win.
The Senators will play the Big Train in Bethesda tomorrow night in the winner-take-all game 3. The Winner will advance to the finals against either the Cropdusters or the Braves.
